This was another book that I was unaware of and may not have chosen to read on my own. I am so used to reading historical fiction so this book for me was branching out a little.

I had not heard of Whiskey & Charlie but one of our book club members picked it out. Everyone in my book club has different tastes and we read a variety of genres.

This book is about twin boys growing up together. They were a lot alike but also different in many ways. As they grew older, they grew apart. They had a falling out somewhere along the way (I do not want to spoil that for you).

I am glad I read it. It was a good read.

What Did I Like About Whiskey & Charlie?

Whiskey & Charlie was a sweet story. From the beginning, you start to really like one twin or the other depending on your personality.

The boys enjoyed playing on their walkie-talkies and had learned the alphabet codes of alpha, bravo, charlie, and so on. They each adopt their alpha name and run with it as they play and grow together.

The real problem is that Charlie is constantly feeling left out and jealous because Whiskey is the more dominant and popular of the two brothers. Charlie has a real complex once they become grown men.

The boys grow older and become young men and go their separate ways after a falling out.

They hardly see or speak to each other for years, until Whiskey is in a serious accident.

Both the young men go through a transformation throughout the book and after Whiskey is in his accident Charlie is dying for a chance to try to settle things with his brother.

What Did I Not Like About Whiskey & Charlie?

Again, this is a story that I cannot really think of much I did not like about it.

With most books, you come to the end and always wonder what more could have been written about the characters. What happened to them? Where did they go? Did they grow close again or remain apart?

I guess one thing about this story is it would be nice to know what happens to the twins and their families after they have set things straight between them.

Final Thoughts

I love books where someone goes through a transformation and you learn something from them. This was one of those books and it left you feeling good about the boys.

I am glad I read the book. It turned out to be a really good story. I loved the end where everything works out but while you are reading you just do not know.

Check it out and let me know what you thought of it.
