I am no one special. Just someone who loves to read and has since I was a small girl.
I am a wife, mother of two adult children, and a Nana to two healthy and beautiful little boys.
I am a paralegal by day and a wannabe blogger/writer at night…that’s if I am not reading.
I remember reading when I was a child. I remember how much fun it was when my mom took my brothers and me to the library and we got to pick out a book or two.
I remember when I used to get the order form at school for Scholastic books and I would take it home and ask my parents if I could order some books. Most often I would get to pick out a couple of cheap books and I would be so excited. I would turn my slip in the next day and I could not wait until my books came.
My mom read a lot too, so I think it probably wore off on me.
I remember growing into a teen and spending more time in my room or outside on the deck reading than just about anything else.
I was very active and I enjoyed playing sports and riding my bike, but I did a whole lot of reading too. I loved going to the library at school and getting books to read.
I remember my mom buying second-hand books at the library and other places. It did not bother me…a book was a book.
And at church, we had reading contests to see how many chapters of the Bible we could read. Needless to say, I read a lot.
After I married and had kids, I went through a dry spell. I was so busy and working that I did not have as much time to read. If you are a parent, you understand that more than anyone. I still enjoyed reading when I could.
I went for several years where I did not read many books at all and I missed that activity. I read books with my kids, but it just wasn’t the same.
I was busy with the kids, helping at the kid’s school, involved in girl scouts and boy scouts, helping with the children’s classes at church, and working a full-time job on and off as we moved to different places.
After my kids were grown and out of high school, my love for reading was rekindled. I began reading all types of books, mystery novels, romance novels, Christian romance, spiritual books, historical fiction, and science fiction.
My favorite genre became clear to me after a few years. I started preferring historical fiction over everything else. Because I wanted to be a better person and learn more, I forced myself to read other types of books like self-help and motivational books. I am glad I did. It has made me a more well-rounded person.
So, because I love to read so much and because I wanted to start blogging, it was only too fitting that I build a book website.
I wanted to share my love of reading, the importance of reading, and eventually talk about the books I love to read. This site has been a learning experience and I will share a little about that in a post I am writing. But for now, on to the books!!
Happy Reading!
